Today we went to the "Extension office" to hear from Brittany Pangburn and Joyce Shriner. Brittany is the local 4H program assistant and Joyce is the Extension educator and the Hocking county director. What 4H is for kids, extension is for adults. Extension was formed along with land grant universities in 1862. The 4H program is part of the Ohio extension program run through The Ohio State University. Ohio extension has 3 branches: agriculture/ natural resources, 4H, and family/consumer sciences. 4H provides many youth development groups with interests in photography, arts, sewing and more. Its not just for farm kids anymore.
