Today we went to the Holter Holstein Farm in Pomeroy, OH. It was interesting to see the inner-workings of a dairy farm. One of my friends from high school has a dairy farm. He recently graduated from Cornell with a degree very similar to what the oldest daughter graduated with. His plan is to help his family start making their own cheese.
Another thing that I found interesting, was how much technology was involved, especially when it came to feeding. Every cow had a number and a transmitter that told the computer how much food each animal should get.
Unfortunately I had to leave early because I had a doctors appointment so I missed out on the homemade ice-cream.
